CAN’T COPE (The New Breakup Anthem)
Breaks up happen each and every day, somewhere right now
someone is being told “it’s not working” followed by “it’s not you it’s me”
commonly used terms before a breakup, so many people in relationships admit
that at times when something is amiss in their relationship or in the conduct
of their partner on a consistent level “breaking up” seems a viable resort. This
will be our context for this read so let’s move to the heart of this read,
which the brand new single from O.P.U.
Appropriately titled “Can’t Cope” this is the second single
off O.P.U’s yet to be released “Season 2 Mix tape”, it features British artist
CrisisMuzik on the chorus who later on raps on the third verse. This is a break
up song in which O.P.U speaks about how a relationship that was once so perfect
turns out to be sour, it takes you through the good times to the bad times, bad
times that warrant a break up. Ever been in relationship where every
whereabouts is questioned, question after question, nothing you do is
appreciated but seen as a mistake, no time is given to seat down and just talk
just arguments till one party just snaps and calls it time up, then this is a
song for you.
This song is based on a real experience underwent by O.P.U
and was recorded a week after all was said and done. When I talked to him, he
had this to say “My music is about my environment my life experiences, if I go
through something am most likely to put in a song, it allows me to freeze
experiences like pictures do, I just felt like I had to record this moment and
share it with the world cause breakups are a reality, I had this beat for over
2 years, so I just picked it up form my collection and wrote to it”. On getting
CrisisMuzik to do the hook he had this to say, “Crisis is very talent plus him
and I had a pending collaboration so when this song went into the works, its
him I approached and everything just worked like clockwork, I really respect
his work ethic”. Although I must say it’s a very one sided picture of things it
takes two to tango, when I asked O.P.U about this he replied “Well a story can
have many sides, I just chose the side I related to best in this case”
I was among the few who got a copy of the song days in
advance its release date, after playing it a record number of times I must say
it’s a relatable song and issue, I mean who hasn’t undergone a breakup?. Crisis
and O.P.U blended well to the beat produced by frontier.O.P.U had his
production work done by J.T of YegoAfrica while CrisisMuzik had his production
done by. To find out more about CrisisMuzik please follow this linkhttp://www.crisismusik.co.uk/. The
